Compuserve Internet Timer ========================= Background ========== This is an absolutely free, use it or throw it, utility to help you keep track of your free 3 hours/month of internet usage on Compuserve. I wrote it for myself as it is very easy to get involved when web-browsing and to spend more time than is good for your pocket. It is a simple stop/go timer which records your session time and saves it to a small data file. Installation ============ The archive includes the following files: Timenet.OPA - if you want to run from the system screen Timenet.OPO - exactly the same as above but not an application Setup.OPO Intercom.TXT - this text file EITHER copy timenet.OPA to any \APP\ directory and install with PSION-I as any other application OR copy timenet.OPO to any \OPO\ directory and run from the RUNOPL icon The setup.OPO should be copied to any \OPO\ directory. Using Timenet ============= The first thing to do is to run SETUP from under the RUNOPL icon. You should only need to do this once, unless for some reason the datafile is lost or corrupted. All SETUP does is to create the datafile and, more importantly, allows you to enter the number of minutes out of 180 that you have already used this month. Once this is done you can ignore SETUP. Start TIMENET and it should be displaying the number of minutes used this month and number remaining. All you do then is to press C (Connect) as soon as you are connected to the CIS internet sub-system. One minute will be immediately added or subtracted as appropriate, as CIS charges in whole minutes with a minimum of one minute. The timer will then increment in minutes. The only other key active now is H (Hangup) which simply stops the timer. The R (Reset) button is used at the beginning of a new month to reset the figures to 0 minutes used, 180 minutes left. The Q (Quit) button saves the data and exits. The data file is only 30-40 bytes and is saved in the \OPD\ directory of your default disk. This directory is created automatically. That is all there is to it. If you like it, fine, if not, fine. Paul Darnell 100413,720 Fri 30 Jun 1995
